Holly McGlynn is an Irish photographer living in London. She received a B.A. in History of Art and Architecture and French from Trinity College Dublin in 2005 and after living in Berlin decided to pursue a career in photography. After working as stills photographer for Underground Films in 2008, she completed an M.A. in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmith's, University of London in 2009. Her work has largely focussed on identity, the self, and performance within different social paradigms, her main influences being Cindy Sherman, Alison Jackson, Hendrik Kerstens, and Gillian Wearing. She has been published in the Guardian, Vice Magazine, TimeOut, Film Ireland, Bellyflop Magazine, and GCN and has exhibited in various galleries around London. The Fashion Factory is based in Kensal Rise, NW London and is the creation of Amanda Riley who worked internationally as a fashion designer for nearly 20 years and has also taught at The London College of Fashion. Amanda's response to the damaging effects that mass-produced 'fast fashion' causes to the enviroment was to start teaching 11-14 year olds how to make new, high fashion pieces from old, whilst learning new skills and having fun. The kids are working on collections for their 'Recycle Revive Fashion Show'. All pieces are made from second-hand clothing which the kids get creative with and they will model their own outfits, it's all looking amazing. The show is to be held in the local art house cinema and profits from ticket sales will go to support a community in South Africa via the Sustainability Institute.
