Working with clay offers opportunities to explore stories through texture, structure, form and colour. I love using stories that I’ve read or written to revive, challenge and explore the creative potential that clay offers. Thus my practice is concerned with building pieces that speak that are inspired by my inner and outer world, by my love for fantasy, informed by my fascination with architectural forms, iron and wood work and my experience with fabrics (particularly Nigerian fabrics and the way we use clothing). I draw on all these sources for my inspiration for forms, colour and texture.
I would like to invite a participative audience to reflect on their own personal journey, asking questions, exploring concepts and dreams. My work has been described as an ‘evocative and atmospheric organisation of form and colours brought together to expressive notions of fantasy and mystery’.
