Cook, Elizabeth Cook, Elizabeth Cook, Elizabeth
My workshop experiences over the last 5 years have provided opportunities to work with a variety of year groups, mixed abilities and curriculum guidelines. Currently I am looking to develop further the possibilities of felt making as a project focus after the success of recent workshops. Regardless of age or ability felt making gives participants the opportunity to confidently experiment with colour and design. I have worked in schools and hospitals, rural and urban settings, as well as during the school day and after. Despite these differences in working environments the core element that each period of work has had in common is the development of the individual’s creative skills, whether the participants work collaboratively or independently. Projects have involved working in hospitals, structuring student co-delivered workshops, felt making demonstrations for staff, "textile tasters" for those with little textiles experience, GCSE textile tutoring for Year 11's, making banners for display in schools and as public art, fabric sketchbooks, and fashion accessories. Recent projects/collaborations 2008-2009 Royal Opera House Education department 'Chance to Dance' programme for London schools Great Ormond Street Hospital University College Hospital London Greenwich Dance Agency/Greenwich Council/JumpStartMove Camden Council 'Out of School Learning' department Kidbrooke School FURTHER EDUCATION I was selected to participate on the Teacher Artist Partnership Programme, TAPP, a groundbreaking professional development programme for artists and teachers across London. Running part-time over a year, Sept 2006-Sept 2007, encompassing teaching sessions, tutorials, performance attendance, action research projects in schools, an international seminar and completion of an assignment and portfolio. Go to www.tapprogramme.org for further information. 2006 - April & July completed two short courses in Illustration at Camberwell & Chelsea College of Art, London.
