I am a jewellery designer/maker based in North London, and trade under the name of 'Mahliqa'. Previously a solicitor by trade, my growing disenchantment with the law coupled with a career-break led me to change direction and start producing unique handmade jewellery. As a British Asian, born and brought up in London, my collections have a distinct eastern influence. I design jewellery which crosses both cultures, appealing to all who love rich vibrant colours and design. My signature pieces are delicate in style and involve intricate knitted wire work woven into a rich tapestry of crystal and gems. In July 2007 I exhibited at Olympia, resulting in magazine coverage and ongoing interest in my work. I am keen to introduce my work to theatre and costume design.
