A London-based artist, designer and writer, I have always combined studio practice with a life-long commitment to social arts, working in prisons as well as other educational settings. I’m a judge for the Koestler Prison Arts Trust’s annual prison arts awards scheme, and was sponsored by the Trust to research and write INSIDER ART, about arts across the UK’s criminal justice system. This will be published by A&C Black in 2010.
Supported by the Wallpaper History Society’s 2010 research bursary I am now writing ARTISTS MAKING WALLPAPER, a survey of contemporary wallpaper art and artists, from artist-designers to artisinal hand-printers. I design and hand-print wallpaper myself, and am an Associate Lecturer on the Surface Design BA at London College of Communication. I have work in private and public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and The Whitworth Gallery, Manchester.
