I have worked as a visual arts project facilitator and public artist for many years.
I work with light, whether natural or artificial. I use it to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Using light we can transform an everyday street setting into a place where anything can happen. We can use it to engage the most sceptical and uninterested participant with the promise of batteries, bulbs and a touch of magic when the switch is turned on.
Much of my work has a site-specific aspect. I like to research history, to find themes and starting points to create something new, and which reflects the participant’s interests and concerns. I am particularly interested in using archives, stories and architectural landmarks as inspiration.
I have extensive experience working with young people in schools. I have worked in schools on a range of creative project from the short- term, half day projects to extended projects over a whole year.
