artist Nathlyn Baptiste springs into action by James Brewer.
A global extravaganza is beginning to arrive on the doorstep of artist Nathlyn Baptiste, and she is revelling in the experience. Nathlyn has her studio just a sprint from the site of the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, East London, and she is already living and breathing the excitement. The fevered preparations for the 2012 Games feed into the energy which she already injects into her works, which are the kind of abstracts the viewer is tempted to turn into his own constructs. One sees girders, prisms, stained glass windows, lightning, skylights... but is that going interpretively too far? A sure thing is that the Olympic logo is a tangible element in at least one instance.
