SHINO ARISAWA studied koto, shamisen and singing with prominent Japanese musicians, including Seikin II Tomiyama and Koji Kikuhara, who are currently heads of prestigious ryuha (schools) in Japan. She currently teaches Japanese music (theory and performance) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Based in London, she has performed many concerts and given workshops, including at the Embassy of Japan, British Museum, Standon Calling Festiva, St. Paul's Cathedral and Bristol Cathedral.

SHINO often performs with the Sankyoku Ensemble Hibiki which was formed in 2003 by three soloists in London. Since then, they have frequently appeared on the UK Japanese music scene to critical acclaim. Recently they gave a concert at the British Museum for the Japanese sake tasting event, where their performance was approved by the audience, who were connoisseurs of fine taste in both sake and music!
