Dixon, Sarah

Based at Kew Studios in West London, my interests in portraiture and religious feelings are expressed in painting, photography and film.

In paintings, film, animation, illustration and craft, I explore myths and representations within society of humans and animals, blending traditional and contemporary techniques. Themes that interest me regard the place of humanity in nature, the way we construct morality and 'good' and 'bad' and I also am driven by sinmply wanting to express the mystery of seeing and being a living thing in this wide, cold universe.

Other interests include wild food, using plant dyes and sheep's fleece. I have worked in Amazonian Ecuador and am much inspired by myths and fairytales that connect us with nature and our own histories.
