Lambert, Alistair
Alistair Lambert is an innovative artist with an increasing number of successful commissions to his name. His rich and compelling sculptures glow from his exploration of pattern and repeated forms developing space. Several recent commissions for London parks have incorporated tactile spaces within the artworks that individuals are encouraged to move through, sit in, or climb on. The form of particular commission evolves through the artist's adaptive use of different materials and careful response to the location. Constructive dialogue with the people enabling the project is essential. Alistair is experienced in running hands-on sculptural workshops as an effective way to involve local people and engage the wider community. This interaction with the public has successfully generated ideas and shapes, which have been developed in the final artwork. Tavistock Gardens, off Portobello Road W11, is a unique 'Sculptural Landscape' based on a geometric puzzle. Mint Street Park SE1 has a new circular sculpture that creates a special social space. At Cricklewood Millennium Green, Claremont Road NW2, landmark sculptures and seating reflect the site's industrial heritage and its transformation to an urban green space.
