Plaisance, Nathalie
I am a French artist who, after moving to the UK, obtained a BA (Hons) in Public-Art at the Chelsea College of Art & Design in London. My influences are mainly based on the practice of public art such as art in hospitals, schools and any public spaces whenever the interaction with local communities is involved. I am interested in bringing people together in rediscovering, through projects and workshops, the importance of the practice of art in our society in general and in big cities in particular. I appreciate any kind of art that is made with or for the people, with the aim to make them rethink, for the best, the place in which they stand or inhabit, whether physically or mentally. I have also been working extensively with the West Way Project, a public art organisation, being involved in leading and implementing mosaic workshops with children, adults and ex convict. The different pieces of work are permanently displayed in many different locations such as Golborne road, Wornington road, Aklam road, etc., including a number of primary schools around the Portobello area, as well as Notting Hill Gate.
