Birds, toads, palm trees, lizards - close observation is only the first step to something which is an interpretation of nature. I work in oils on canvas and watercolour and collages and glass. Journeys through Morocco, Sicily, Ireland and the Caribbean have inspired most of my recent work. The colours of these places, the exotic palette, the strong contrasts, the elaborate geometric patterns on the tile work in Morocco, the stars at night, the Atlas Mountains, the shadows thrown by ragged palms, the brooding presence of Mount Etna, the blue, blue sea and the white beaches on Mustique, the luminous and iridescent fish - all of this and more inspires me. I have several exhibitions; sell my work regularly at open studios and on commission.
