Tanna, Jonny

I don't believe that film should be given a genre. I believe art should be open rather than separate itself from the public eye.

I obsessively try to avoid influence or even having something remotely similar to my work, but it's very difficult.

I enjoy making short films for fun, as well as experimenting with camera techniques without the use of computer enhanced techniques. This is to improve my own cinematography.

I have created my own style of film making which involves:- taking charge of as many aspects in the film as possible (writing, directing, producing, art direction, sound recording etc)... I basically like to adapt all the skills I have learnt over the years into my films. This would also include drawing and designing my own promo material as well.

I recently directed a self-financed, unscripted feature film. Currently titled 'The Container Project', it was conceived during each day of the shoot. Random Ideas were shot and then later I structured a script around the ideas and shot additional scenes.

Rules included:- No shots of the outside world, no topical references or reference to modern culture (this includes iPods, mobile phones etc), and the use of only 1 actor. The purpose of this was to allow the film to display a personal dettachment from pop/modern culture.

I would like to make films in as many formats as possible. Including, and especially Super 8. Even though I'm currently using High Definition, I would like to explore more analogue formats and develop my skills further.

This can also be applied to my photography.
