Patel, Seema

I have been trained for seven years in the Indian classical dance form 'Kathak' by my guru Gauri Sharma Tripathi at the Federation of Patidar Associations. Gauri has been a major inspiration and influence in my pursuit of dance to a professional level. My work includes performances at the Royal Festival Hall, Millennium Dome, Westminster Abbey in front of HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the Nehru Centre, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham Mega Mela, in Switzerland, India and at the Royal Theatre in Stratford. Each performance has been a challenging and rewarding experience from which to learn and improve from; especially with projects that have gone beyond my boundary of classical training into contemporary work. I would like to work on future projects which help South Asian dancers based in the UK. And I would like South Asian dance become more established and recognised within the UK as well as world wide. I hope to work and collaborate with other dancers who have trained in different classical / contemporary dance forms.
