Language of Dance Centre

The Language of Dance Centre is an international organisation that promotes a innovative approach to dance and its education. Created by the world renowned dance notation expert Dr Ann Hutchinson Guest, it includes exploring, creating and analaysing movement. It also teaches the ability to record it in motif symbols. The LOD approach promotes the transference of physical dance to an intellectual understanding which enhances student learning and informs the dance making process. It extends past preconcieved boundaries for dance professionals or any person interested in the expression of movement.



Our activities include:



Promoting and teaching Language of Dance® (LOD) to children and adults.



Organising and running workshops and courses to train teachers in the LOD approach.



Providing National Curriculum support to teachers of LOD in primary and secondary schools.



Producing and publishing educational materials, as well as Labanotation dance scores.
