Stewart, Helen
In early 2006 I and four other artists founded a not-for-profit arts company Paprika Arts which has been commissioned to run the lantern parade in Stanwell this year.
I am particularly interested in theatre-design based community arts projects, particularly collaborative pieces, where the design process is simultaneous to the process of devising. I have recently been involved with two such projects Boom! School’s Out with Fast Forward Theatre (Yorkshire) and War is Over with Triangle Theatre. The work with Fast Forward Theatre involved workshop-based set and costume design, with the young people learning how to “break-down” their own costumes and design set. The Triangle theatre piece was a four-week interactive, site-specific Museum Theatre piece at Rough Close, a scout camping ground near Coventry. The project involved designing and installing set/props/materials for three separate rooms, creating activities for the primary school children to be involved in, and creating costumes.
I have recently moved to Haringey from Staines and am so I am particularly keen and eager to form new partnerships with local groups.
