Mayer, Sophie

I believe that creative expression in language is everyone's right, and that everyone has the potential to experience the joys of storytelling, reporting and poetry. I have worked with youth at-risk in educational and extra-curricular settings to encourage and empower them to tell their stories.

In my own writing work as a widely-published journalist, cultural historian, and poet, I focus on giving joyous voice to the under-represented, to saluting emotional intelligence, and to pushing boundaries. As an editor, educator and publisher, I enjoy enabling others to surprise themselves with their capacity for excellence.
