What do a gay former butcher, a school teacher, and the great Australian bushland have in common?

Malcolm Poole, one time high-society butcher, and part-time English teacher, Loris Quantock are exhibiting at London’s Menier Gallery with a show inspired by the Australian bush.

Titled "Two for the Road", this exhibition is the first in a series to be held at the Menier Gallery featuring the works of Sydney’s most famous colony of artists, the Lennox Street Studios. Operating on similar lines to London’s artist - run Cable Street Studios, Lennox Street is regarded as the home of innovative art in inner city Sydney.

Both artists draw inspiration from the rugged Australian landscape. Malcolm often uses aerial photography as a starting point. His work takes the viewer on a spin through abstract oil painted landscapes, each with their distorted perspectives, tilted angles and hidden images.

Loris’s award-winning paintings and assemblages of found natural objects show a three dimensional take on the bush in a series of delicate works that have been meticulously created.

Two for The Road will opened by, His Excellency Mr. John Dauth LVO High Commissioner for Australia on Tuesday 28 September from 5pm to 8pm.
